Analysis of helmet market standard of electric vehicle helmet manufacturers

Since the release of the policy of Yikui, Electric vehicle helmet Manufacturers are springing up, but do you know? There is no real code standard for electric vehicle helmets, and there is a great potential safety hazard. So we take motorcycle helmets as the standard, and simply talk about the safety standards of helmets and their impact on safety.

Difference of different helmets

The full helmet is a common helmet for competition, which covers the head completely and has the highest protection; While 3/4 helmets are the most common in terms of protection and comfort, half helmets are the worst in terms of protection, but have the best comfort and convenience.

Although the convenience and comfort of full helmet is not as good as that of 3/4 helmet and half helmet, it can effectively protect the chin in case of accidents, which is not the function of helmet in the other two methods. The other two types of helmets are suitable for summer use because of their advantages of better breathability and portability.

Of course, now there are more suitable uncovering helmets for long-distance travel, which make overall arrangements for the safety of full helmets, as well as the convenience of travel. It is more convenient to drink, smoke, eat, and talk with people without taking off the helmet. In addition, it is worth noting that the helmet is also divided into the European version and the Asian version, mainly due to the difference in head shape between Asian and European races! Therefore, when buying, you can consult the relevant details first, but basically all the products sold in China will be supplied to the Asian version, but overseas shopping, purchasing, etc. are not necessarily available.

How to wear helmet correctly?

When wearing, make sure that the lining floats against your cheeks and forehead to prevent the helmet from shaking due to airflow when your head rotates or when driving at high speed! When the chin strap is tightened, it maintains a finger gap to ensure comfort and safety. It is better to choose a slightly tighter helmet, so that the lining can fully cling to the cheek. When an accident happens, there is no gap between the head and the helmet lining, so there will be no secondary impact damage. And the helmet lining will fit your head and face better after wearing it for a long time.

Helmet certification of our concern

Common certifications: DOT, SNELL, JIS and SHARP, etc. These certifications represent different countries and certification standards.

DOT Department of Transportation.

SNELL William pete Snell American certification, non-profit SNELL Memorial Foundation.

SHARP - UK certification, official of the UK Department of Transport.

JIS Japan Certification, Japanese Industrial Standards.

CSA Canadian Standards Association

ECE/EN European Certification, Economic Commission of Europe

AS/NZ Australian/New Zealand Standard

Fortunately, any safety test now can be carried out by machines, and it is no longer necessary to require "real people" to play.

Structure of helmet

The shell materials of the helmet include high reinforced plastic, carbon fiber (light and brittle), Kevlar (light and tough) and other primary materials. The shell characteristics of the helmet are that it has certain elasticity and allows a certain amount of deformation shrinkage, so as to reduce the damage caused by hard impact! As for the carbon fiber materials currently preferred by more manufacturers, they are mostly used to reduce the weight, but a few carbon fiber helmets are made of single carbon fiber cloth, so to splice multiple carbon fiber cloth together, they need to be applied to Kevlar. Kevlar and carbon fiber complement each other in the physical property meeting, so that the shape change can be controlled within a certain amount.

As a result, carbon fiber helmets with multiple splices are regularly selected, and most of them will use Kevlar material as the splicing reinforcement material. The deployment of these two kinds of materials will be helpful to some extent in terms of the results of the second touch test of safety requirements in some regions.

In terms of core materials, this is the key to providing safety protection. The helmet lining is made of EPS (buffered styrofoam) plastic foam, which is mainly used for cushioning, shock absorption and impact dispersion. The foaming density of EPS material can also eliminate the force generated by impact. Good EPS material, the better the quality of rubber between particles, the better the impact resistance after foaming, otherwise, the worse. We can't teach you to distinguish the quality of EPS material from its appearance, but only remind you to choose from its price and brand.

Good helmet manufacturers will also deploy multi-stage foam density EPS according to the different impact parts in the helmet. The well-known SHOEI in Japan uses this method for each helmet.

In the inner layer of the helmet, nothing more than foam pads, cotton pads, leather pads, etc. will be used, mainly to provide a softer, more comfortable touch, and have the characteristics of sweat absorption, quick drying, antibacterial, removable cleaning, breathability, etc. The inner layer of these pads will also cover the memory sponge, giving the face a better sense of comfort.

After wearing the helmet, the last step is to fasten the strap, which can be divided into quick release buckles, double D buckles, etc. Quick release buckles are used for pulling helmets, uncovering helmets, and long-distance travel. There are many kinds of quick release buckles, most of which are snap buckles, which are conducive to quick on and off, while double D buckles are used for full helmets, race track helmets, etc., to provide more solid protection, and to reduce the possible cracking caused by accidents.

The above are the basic standards for motorcycle helmets. Most normal manufacturers of electric vehicle helmets use the standards between sports helmets and motorcycle helmets to manufacture electric vehicle helmets. In a word, how much is your head worth? Maybe how important? It depends on how protective helmets you choose.
